Apostle Chikere Nwafor, founder of Heaven’s Gateway Ministries, has been accused of committing insurance fraud by shipping her Lexus RX450h from the United Kingdom to Nigeria while falsely reporting it stolen to her insurance company. According to her ex-husband, Martin Ogbulu, who spoke to SaharaReporters, Chikere allegedly received close to £17,000 from the insurance company following the false claim. Ogbulu claimed that when he initially noticed the car missing from its usual parking space in the UK, Chikere told him “her cousins were having a wedding or some family event and needed the car.”
More than a month later, she allegedly called him from Nigeria asking him to confirm to insurers that the vehicle was not at the house, saying “Please, my darling, help me. My insurance company is going to call you.”
When the insurance company contacted Ogbulu, he told them “Whatever she has told you is the truth. I have not seen any vehicle,” unaware at the time that the car had allegedly been shipped to Nigeria. He claims to have photographic evidence showing the same vehicle in both the UK and Nigeria, stating “The car didn’t disappear. It was moved.” The allegations come amid other accusations against the pastor, including claims she orchestrated the continued imprisonment of Alfred Morris Oyawari, a church caretaker who earned ₦40,000 monthly and has been held at Ikoyi Prison since April 2025 over allegations of missing building materials. Apostle Chikere Nwafor had not responded to SaharaReporters’ requests for comment at the time of publication.
