Erling Haaland officially changes name on back of Norway shirt…

Erling Haaland has added “Braut” to his Norway shirt name, surprising his coach and leaving fans with higher replica costs.

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has officially changed the name on his Norway shirt ahead of the country’s upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers. According to retailer Unisportstore, the 25-year-old will now appear as “Braut Haaland,” incorporating his middle name, rather than the simpler “Haaland.” The adjustment will first be visible when Norway meet Finland in a friendly on September 5 before facing Moldova in a qualifier five days later.

National team coach Stale Solbakken admitted he was unaware of the switch. He told Dagbladet: “That’s his name [Braut], it’s no longer that difficult. I knew nothing of it until now.”

The decision mirrors Haaland’s Instagram profile, which already uses his full name. However, the change also means Norwegian supporters will have to pay more for replica shirts due to the extra lettering.

Before international duty, Haaland will turn his attention back to Manchester City’s Premier League clash with Brighton on Sunday.
