Gunmen stormed Igbo Ofe Ora in Kwara State, abducted a housewife, shot her brother-in-law, and later demanded a N100 million ransom, heightening tension in the community.
Gunmen invaded Igbo Ofe Ora community near Oke-Ode in Ifelodun LGA of Kwara State on Monday, kidnapping a housewife, Rukayat, and shooting her brother-in-law, Abdulateef, who is now receiving treatment in a private hospital after government doctors were unavailable due to a strike.
The attackers, described as “Fulani attackers,” stormed the village around 11 a.m., fired sporadically, and took only Rukayat, later contacting the family to demand a N100 million ransom. The attack occurred as a younger family member was returning to the village on a motorcycle, prompting residents to flee. Security agencies have yet to comment, and tensions remain high. This incident follows a deadly ambush on traders travelling from Koro in Ekiti LGA of Kwara to Egbe in Kogi State for Ebu Market Day, adding to growing insecurity in the region.
