NEW: Group of men rescue a 20-year-old woman after a man allegedly tried to kidnap her on a J train platform in Brooklyn.
Heroes.
The woman was on the phone with her mother when 42-year-old Fredrick Marshall allegedly tried to take her.
“She was just saying, ‘Mom, he’s trying to take me, he’s trying to take me,’ and I’m like trying to run to her as fast as I can, but when I got to the train station, the MTA clerk had her in the booth, safe,” the woman’s mother said.
Witness Rondel Whitfield says he was headed to church when he saw the incident unfold. He said he had no other option but to jump in.
“I said, ‘Brother please, just let the lady go … Let the lady go.’ He’s like no. He just started being real barbaric. I’ve never seen nothing like that in my life,” Whitfield said.
Five people held Marshall down until police arrived.
He was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree assault, and second-degree harassment, according to CBS.
The woman had minor injuries. Her mother is now thanking the men who jumped in.
“I’m very, very, grateful for those that were there helping my daughter. I am so, so, so, so grateful ’cause if it wasn’t for you guys, I wouldn’t have my child today.”
