The protest, which caused heavy traffic and disruption, saw demonstrators wielding placards with inscriptions like “Nigerians Must Go” and “Stop Ritual Killings Now.”
The residents accused some Nigerians of being behind rising cases of crime, including alleged ritual murders and running prostitution rings that they claim threaten the moral fabric of the area. “We are tired of these activities. They must go,” one protester said.
Local leaders called on the government to intervene swiftly to address the community’s concerns. Some residents also pleaded with the authorities to tighten immigration checks and clamp down on criminal elements regardless of nationality.
Meanwhile, the police have urged calm and promised to investigate the allegations thoroughly to maintain peace in the area.
