A 15-year-old girl, Endurance Sabon, has had her hand severed after her family rejected a forced marriage proposal by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Goska community, Jama’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State. A family member told SaharaReporters that the men first approached Endurance’s mother on the farm, insisting the teenager be given in marriage and repeatedly calling her by name.
According to the source, the attackers later ambushed the family around 6:30 p.m., dragged Endurance into the forest and injured her severely. “They then searched again with the torchlight, found the young girl, grabbed her, and dragged her into the forest.” She was referred from Kafanchan General Hospital to Jos University Teaching Hospital. “Five persons were arrested,” the source said, as the family appealed for government intervention.
