Fuji icon Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 De-Ultimate, has defended his royal heritage and his bid for the Awujale of Ijebuland during a live performance on Sunday.
K1 said critics only began questioning his ancestry after he announced his interest, stressing that it is his legitimate right to vie for the throne. He invoked the spirit of the late Awujale, Oba Sikiru Adetona, to “reveal the truth,” noting the monarch made him Olori Omo-Oba Akile Ijebu.
K1, who submitted his formal declaration on December 3, said he is a “bona fide son” of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House and traces his lineage to the Oba Jadiara branch. However, the ruling house has asked him to prove his genealogy by completing a seven-generation royal lineage form.
Chairman Abdulateef Owoyemi said the process ensures only true princes can contest, as verification will precede the selection of the next Awujale.
