‘Fubara is my boy’– Wike opens up on those he’ s fighting

“That one is not a battle. He (Fubara) is my boy, he is my son, why will I fight with him?”

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that Siminalayi Fubara, the suspended Governor of Rivers State, remains his political son despite their ongoing political differences. In an interview with BBC Pidgin on Saturday, Wike clarified that his dispute is not with Fubara but with individuals influencing him.

“That one is not a battle. He (Fubara) is my boy, he is my son, why will I fight with him?” Wike stated. “I’m only fighting against people who want to steal what they did not work for.”

The feud between the two has escalated since 2023, causing political instability in Rivers State. Wike accused unnamed individuals of manipulating Fubara, saying, “When you don’t defeat them, they will think you… Defeat them to the final stage.” Reports suggest Fubara has offered apologies amid speculation about a presidential intervention.
