Freed Kwara worshippers reunite with families in Eruku

The 38 church members abducted from Eruku in Kwara State have been reunited with their families. This development came days after reports indicated a delay in their handover by government officials, despite an official announcement confirming their rescue from the unidentified gunmen.

The worshippers were forcefully taken on November 18, 2025, during a thanksgiving service at the CAC Oke Isegun. The brutal attack resulted in the deaths of three individuals, while another victim sustained gunshot wounds, highlighting the severe violence of the incident that shook the local community.

In a formal process in Ilorin, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq handed over the freed individuals to Awelewa Olawale Gabriel, the Chairman of Ekiti Local Government Area. The confirmation was made in a statement by the chairman’s Chief Press Secretary, Dada Sunday, on Tuesday night.
