Floyd Mayweather Jr. has confirmed he will return to professional boxing after his exhibition fight with Mike Tyson, with a comeback bout planned for later this year.
Boxing icon Floyd Mayweather Jr. has announced he will come out of retirement to resume professional boxing after his upcoming exhibition bout with Mike Tyson, marking his first return to sanctioned competition since retiring unbeaten in 2017 with a 50-0 record. The 48-year-old said he remains confident in his ability to continue setting records, stating, “I still have what it takes to set more records in the sport of boxing,” adding that his events would generate unmatched revenue, global audiences and gate figures.
Mayweather’s first professional fight is tentatively scheduled for the summer with an opponent yet to be announced, while the five-division champion whose last official bout was a 2017 victory over Conor McGregor has remained active through exhibition contests and recently signed an exclusive promotional agreement with CSI Sports/Fight Sports, as his return is expected to draw significant global attention.
