Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on Wednesday accused the Federal Government of deploying the EFCC against him for refusing to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress. He spoke in Bauchi during the signing of the 2026 Appropriation Bill, lamenting that a state commissioner remains in EFCC custody and condemning what he termed political misuse of institutions.
“As a governor, someone who is the head of the opposition, my commissioner has been kept and will not be released by the EFCC. Even when I have immunity as a governor, my name was stupendously mentioned in a motion in a court of law in Nigeria. Me, Bala Mohammed,” he said. He insisted that “no amount of harassment” would make him join the APC and warned that persecution cannot force political alignment.
