The Federal Government has launched the 10,000 Women in Mobility programme to economically empower women across the country through access to vehicles, tricycles and motorcycles. The initiative, rolled out through the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation, targets beneficiaries in all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory to boost women’s participation in transport, logistics and delivery services.
Speaking at the launch, Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, said 1,000 women had already benefited from the Abuja pilot phase, with plans to scale nationwide. According to her, “It’s an economic empowerment… Mr. President has a goal of a $1 trillion economy,” adding that strengthening women’s participation would translate into value “for the country at large.”
