FG, Boeing Plan Aircraft Maintenance Facility in Nigeria

Nigeria is partnering with Boeing and Cranfield University to build a major aircraft maintenance facility. This project is expected to significantly cut airline costs by preventing over $200 million in annual capital flight currently spent on overseas servicing.

President Tinubu, represented by SGF George Akume, announced the deal at the Nigerian International Airshow. Akume described the initiative as a crucial step that places Nigeria firmly on the global aviation map, alongside international hubs like Farnborough and Dubai.

Aero Contractors and XEJet are spearheading the development of new MRO hubs in Lagos and Abuja, signalling a major transformation in Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure and capabilities.
