Fatoyinbo issues apology following criticism over remarks on CAC’s Ayo Babalola

COZA Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo has apologised to the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) over controversial remarks about the late Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola. In a viral sermon, Fatoyinbo praised Babalola’s anointing but claimed “all the grace just went like that” because he “had no money.” The CAC condemned the statement as biblically flawed. Fatoyinbo, in a statement, expressed regret, denied insulting Babalola’s family, and reaffirmed his respect for the evangelist’s legacy.

Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly has apologised to the Christ Apostolic Church over remarks about its late founder, Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola.

In a sermon that went viral, Fatoyinbo described Babalola as “so anointed” but claimed “all the grace just went like that” because he “had no money.” The CAC condemned the comments, calling them insensitive and biblically flawed, and accused Fatoyinbo of equating ministerial success with material wealth.

Responding on Thursday, Fatoyinbo acknowledged the concerns and apologised “for any distress” caused to the CAC, Babalola’s family, or associates. He denied speaking ill of Babalola’s children, describing the evangelist as a “highly revered father of faith” whose ministry shaped many churches.

“I will never disrespect or speak of them in that manner either publicly or privately,” he stated, praying that Babalola’s legacy “continues to grow in leaps and bounds.”

The CAC urged ministers to avoid linking divine calling to material prosperity.
