The father of the abducted bride in Chacho village, Wurno LGA of Sokoto State, says bandits have contacted the family but have not yet requested ransom, instead asking to speak with the community’s traditional ruler. He appealed to government authorities and security agencies to rescue the 13 kidnapped victims, including the bride, her bridesmaid, two male relatives, and nine women, taken during a midnight attack. “The assailants stormed the house and went directly into the room of the bride,” he said.
One person, believed to be the bride’s brother, was shot and badly injured, while residents say the village has suffered nearly ten attacks in five years, with over 30 killed and no basic amenities to support their safety or recovery.
