An OAU student is demanding ₦15 million and legal restraint against a peer who retracted a false rape accusation, citing irreparable reputational and professional harm.
David Adefesobi Ojuko, a student at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), is pursuing ₦15 million in damages and has obtained a cease-and-desist order against a female schoolmate, Adeife, following what he describes as a “false and defamatory” rape allegation. Although Adeife issued a public video apology admitting she “spoke carelessly in anger” over a disagreement regarding the “Mirabel issue” and clarified that “David has never raped anybody,” Ojuko’s legal team at K.C. Anekwe & Associates maintains that the initial viral claims caused significant emotional distress and loss of business opportunities. In a formal letter dated February 24, 2026, his solicitors warned Adeife to stop all direct contact with their client, stating, “All communications concerning this matter must be channeled exclusively through our office,” while setting a fourteen-day deadline for a total settlement of their demands to avoid further litigation.
