Renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has denied claims circulating on social media that he alleged being targeted by a United States attack on Nigerian soil, describing the report as false. In a statement posted on his verified Facebook page, Gumi clarified that he neither made such comments nor entertained the possibility. He said the viral report misrepresented his words and amounted to fake news.
The cleric explained that the confusion likely stemmed from a lecture he delivered at a mosque, during which he narrated a previous security incident involving Boko Haram. Emphasising his safety, Gumi stated that he is currently at home with his family and not under any form of threat or intimidation. He urged the public to disregard the misleading report, reaffirming that he has not raised concerns about being targeted by any foreign military action.
