British prosecutors on Friday charged former doctor Nathaniel Spencer, 38, with multiple sexual offences allegedly committed against 38 patients, including a child under 13, in central England.
Regional prosecutor Ben Samples said the charges involved “a number of serious sexual offences allegedly carried out against patients while he was working as a doctor” in hospitals at Stoke-on-Trent and Dudley between 2017 and 2021.
Samples said authorities determined “that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest to pursue criminal proceedings.”
Spencer faces 15 counts of sexual assault, 17 assault by penetration charges, one attempted count, and additional offences involving a child. Prosecutors have not disclosed the number of alleged child victims. He is due to appear in court on January 20.
