Nasir El-Rufai has asked a Federal High Court to dismiss SSS charges of cybercrime and phone tapping, describing them as legally flawed and an abuse of court process.
Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai has filed an application at the Federal High Court, Abuja, seeking to quash charges filed against him by the State Security Service over alleged phone tapping. His aide, Muyiwa Adekeye, said the charges were “incompetent,” disclosed “no offence known to law,” and constituted a “gross abuse of court process.” The matter is scheduled for hearing on February 25 before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik.
The SSS had filed a three-count charge accusing El-Rufai of cybercrime and breaching national security laws, including the Cybercrimes Prohibition Act (2024), over alleged wiretapping of National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu. El-Rufai is also seeking N2 billion in costs, arguing the case lacks a prima facie basis and amounts to political persecution.
