The Egypt-Nigeria friendly match, originally set for 14 December, has been postponed to 16 December, Egyptian Football Association Vice President Khaled El-Darandaly confirmed. The change ensures the availability of key players, including Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah and Manchester City’s Omar Marmoush, ahead of both teams’ preparations for the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco from 21 December to 18 January 2026.
Egypt, seven-time African champions seeking their first title since 2010, were drawn in Group B alongside South Africa, Angola, and Zimbabwe. Coach Hossam Hassan named a 28-man preliminary squad on Monday, with the team assembling in Cairo on Wednesday for final preparations ahead of the tournament.
