The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has dismissed claims by former Attorney-General Abubakar Malami that his bail was revoked for attending a political gathering in Kebbi State. The EFCC said the allegation is false and politically unfounded.
In a statement by spokesperson Dele Oyewale, the commission said Malami’s continued detention is due to his failure to meet five bail conditions. “The matter has nothing to do with politics,” Oyewale said, describing the narrative as misleading and untrue.
The EFCC explained that Malami was granted provisional administrative bail after interrogation on November 28, 2025. It stressed that bail is discretionary and temporary, adding that none of the five conditions attached to the bail have been met by the former minister.
