EFCC invites ex-Justice Minister Malami over Buhari-era asset recoveries

Abubakar Malami (SAN), former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, confirmed that he has been invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in connection with decisions taken during his tenure under the Buhari administration.

In a statement shared on Facebook, Malami reaffirmed his readiness to honour the invitation, emphasizing that his public service record has been guided by “accountability and transparency.”

He noted that the EFCC sought clarifications on certain matters and expressed his willingness to provide them, assuring Nigerians that he would keep them informed as events unfold. Sources indicate the inquiry may focus on controversial asset recoveries, disposal of seized vessels and oil, and contract approvals that previously drew public scrutiny.

Malami stated, “I am informing my family and friends that EFCC has invited me to clarify on some issues, and as a citizen of law and order and patriot, I am willing to honor this invitation without any hesitation.”
