Mohammed Kumo, a magistrate in Gombe State, was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on bribery and extortion charges. He is accused of illegally receiving N1 million and N400,000 through a court registrar’s bank account, violating the Corrupt Practices Act.
Kumo pleaded not guilty before Justice H.H. Kereng at the Gombe High Court. While the prosecution sought his remand, the judge granted him interim bail. The case was adjourned to January 2026 for a formal bail ruling and continuation of the trial.
