The Edo State Government has claimed ownership of a disputed forest reserve between the Abere and Ajakuruma Ijaw communities in Ovia South West Local Government Area. Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa, leading a peace meeting, warned both communities against further claims, stating, “You cannot fight over what does not belong to you.”
Idahosa cited documentary evidence and digital coordinates confirming state ownership. He urged residents to maintain peace and abide by the State Boundary Committee’s resolutions. Council chairman Nosakhare Edobor was praised for preventing a crisis that had lingered for seven months.
