Nigeria’s D’Tigers suffered a 68-55 defeat against Guinea in their second 2027 FIBA World Cup qualification game in Tunisia, marking their second loss in the series ahead of a crucial match against Rwanda.
Nigeria’s D’Tigers endured another disappointing outing on Saturday as Guinea dominated them throughout a “one-sided encounter” at the Salle Multidisciplinaire de Radès in Tunisia, marking their second loss of the qualification series. After trailing 22–16 in the first quarter and going into halftime 35–26 down, the Nigerians improved slightly in the third quarter but never came close enough to overturn the deficit.
Guinea eventually sealed a decisive 13-point victory, compounding Nigeria’s earlier defeat to Tunisia. D’Tigers will now face Rwanda on Sunday in their final game of the initial half of the first round, after which all teams will meet again before the top three advance, with only five African teams set to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar from August 27 to September 12.
