DSS arraigns ex-AGF Malami, son on terrorism financing, firearms charges

Former AGF Abubakar Malami and his son have been arraigned by the DSS on terrorism financing and firearms charges, with the trial adjourned pending a bail hearing.

The Department of State Services has arraigned former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and his son, Abdulazeez Malami, before the Federal High Court, Abuja, on five counts of terrorism financing and unlawful possession of firearms. They appeared before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik and pleaded not guilty.

Prosecuting counsel, Dr C.S. Eze, sought their remand in DSS custody, while defence counsel, S.A. Alua, SAN, applied orally for bail. The judge ruled that “the court is a court of record” and could only consider a written application, adjourning the case to February 20.
