Dino Melaye resigns from PDP…

Former Kogi Senator Dino Melaye has quit the PDP, citing the party’s failure to offer credible leadership. In a resignation letter dated July 4, 2025, Melaye said he could no longer support the party’s agenda.

Former Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), blaming the party’s failure to offer credible leadership as his reason for leaving.

In a letter dated July 4, 2025, addressed to the PDP chairman in Ward 1, Aiyetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Melaye declared his immediate withdrawal from the party. The letter was publicly shared via his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday.

“I hereby tender my resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party at all levels of involvement,” Melaye stated.

He accused the PDP of lacking “potency and capacity… to deliver the Nigerian people from the prevailing political cankerworms that have eaten deeply into the fabric of our dear nation.”

“Having carefully reflected on the state of the party, I can no longer in good conscience participate in the activities of the party or lend my support to her agenda,” he added.

Melaye was the PDP’s 2023 Kogi State governorship

candidate.
