Nollywood actor and director Stanley Amandi has been arrested in connection with an alleged coup plot involving some military officers accused of planning the violent overthrow of President Bola Tinubu’s government. A source in the Actors Guild of Nigeria said Amandi, a former AGN Enugu chairman, was taken into custody in September 2025.
Investigators allege Amandi acted as a media propagandist for the plotters, who reportedly discussed assassinating senior officials. The Defence Headquarters confirmed the existence of an unlawful plot, stating that investigations were “comprehensive” and that implicated officers would face trial before military judicial panels.
