“Hushpuppi is coming out soon. He lived life. To me, it is not worth it to be locked up.”
Afrobeats star Davido has revealed his past friendship with convicted fraudster Ramon Abbas, aka Hushpuppi, while claiming ignorance of his criminal activities. In a recent podcast interview, the singer expressed sympathy for the incarcerated socialite, stating, “Hushpuppi is coming out soon. He lived life.” Davido acknowledged Nigeria’s economic struggles as a potential driver for crime but refused to justify fraud, adding, “Let me not make excuses for them… Some people are happy to ball for five years and that is it.”
The “30 Billion Gang” hitmaker admitted their casual friendship while distancing himself from Hushpuppi’s scams: “I just see him around, I never really knew what he was doing.” His comments come as Hushpuppi serves an 11-year US prison sentence for multimillion-dollar cybercrimes.
