‘David is American!’— mother vows U.S. State Department intervention in Davido DNA saga

The mother of a teenage girl claiming to be the daughter of Nigerian singer David Adeleke, known professionally as Davido, has challenged earlier DNA test claims, alleging irregularities in previous procedures and saying she plans to seek independent oversight from international authorities. In a statement posted on her daughter’s Instagram account on Thursday, the woman, Ayo Labinjoh, said the issue was not a legal fight on her daughter’s behalf but a quest by the teenager for clarity about her identity amid renewed public attention to the case.

Labinjoh said the controversy has taken a heavy emotional toll on her daughter, Anu Adeleke, who she said has suffered bullying and psychological distress over the years. She claimed the teenager fainted at school on several occasions and underwent psychotherapy as a result of the prolonged scrutiny, adding that her daughter’s request for a DNA test was motivated by a desire to understand her parentage rather than by financial gain or publicity.
