Dangote says refinery staff, including CNG drivers, earn triple minimum wage with benefits such as insurance, pensions, and housing loans.
Aliko Dangote, president of the Dangote Group, has reaffirmed his commitment to tackling unemployment in Nigeria, stressing that his companies continue to create jobs rather than displace workers.
Speaking to journalists at his refinery complex on Monday, Dangote said: “Our employees earn salaries three times the minimum wage. Our drivers receive a living wage, life insurance, and health insurance covering themselves, their spouses, and up to four children, as well as a lifelong pension.”
He added that CNG truck drivers qualify for housing loans after five years of service without accidents, while union membership remains optional.
Dangote dismissed claims that the launch of new trucks would threaten jobs. “You are saying there will be a loss of jobs; will our own tankers be driven by robots? We are creating many more,” he stated.
The billionaire also noted that since operations began, the refinery has cut petrol prices from almost ₦1,100 to ₦841, with exports exceeding 1.1 billion litres of PMS between June and early September 2025.
