Traditional drummers, chanters, trumpeters, and praise singers, under the banner of the Gbobaniyi Olubadan, have moved to the family compound and residence of Olubadan-designate, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja.
The relocation on Tuesday came shortly after the group formally departed from the home of the immediate past Olubadan, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, who passed away on July 7.
The Gbobaniyi Olubadan, a collective of entertainers, performs daily for the Olubadan and welcomes visitors to the palace. Ladoja’s family compound is situated at Isale Osi in Ibadan South West Local Government, while his personal residence is at Ondo Street, Bodija, Ibadan North Local Government.
On Tuesday, members were seen at both locations, entertaining family members, well-wishers, and guests celebrating the new Olubadan-designate.
According to tradition, the group will remain with the Olubadan throughout his reign, maintaining their role as part of the cultural heritage of the ancient city of Ibadan.
