The Federal High Court has permitted ex-Kogi governor Yahaya Bello to travel to Saudi Arabia for 10 days of umrah after the EFCC did not oppose his request.
A Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday granted former Kogi State governor Yahaya Bello permission to travel to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, to observe the last 10 days of Ramadan for lesser hajj. Justice Emeka Nwite approved the request after the prosecution raised no objection.
Bello told the court he would spend only 10 days in Mecca despite wishing to stay longer, saying, “I have not travelled outside this country in the last eight years.” Justice Nwite ruled that the trip would commence on March 13 and adjourned the trial to January 30.
