Nigeria’s air force has launched strikes in neighbouring Benin as part of efforts to help contain an ongoing coup attempt, a presidency source told AFP. The operation was reportedly carried out in coordination with Beninese authorities, though details of the specific targets remain unclear.
Air force spokesman Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame confirmed the involvement, saying “the Nigerian Air Force has operated in the Republic of Benin in line with ECOWAS protocols and the ECOWAS Standby Force mandate.” Further information on the strikes has not yet been released.
