Corps member demands justice after brutal attack by Agunechemba operatives

A 28-year-old corps member, Jennifer Elohor, has accused Anambra State vigilantes of brutal assault, stripping her naked, and threatening to kill her over false internet fraud allegations

A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Jennifer Elohor, has alleged that she was stripped naked, beaten, and threatened with death by operatives of Agunechemba, the Anambra State-owned vigilante group. Elohor, a 28-year-old Zoology graduate serving in Oba, Idemili South LGA, said the masked gunmen stormed the corps members’ lodge on July 23, accusing them of being internet fraudsters.

“They tore my clothes and stripped me naked. Even when I tried to cover myself, they dragged the pieces off and kept torturing me,” Elohor recounted. She added that the men threatened to “shoot me and dump my body in the bush.”

The corps member claimed she was forced into a vehicle naked, taken through a bush path, and detained with colleagues until their school proprietor intervened.

Elohor accused her Local Government Inspector of downplaying the assault, saying, “What has happened has happened. Some of you ladies are going to get married to men who beat women. So, this is training for you.”
