Colorado suspect charged over firebomb plot targeting US Embassy in Israel

The U.S Justice Department said Neumeyer posted on social media: “Join me as I burn down the embassy in Tel Aviv. Death to America, death to Americans, and f–k the west.”

A dual U.S.-German citizen has been arrested for attempting to firebomb a U.S. Embassy facility in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Joseph Neumeyer, 28, was taken into custody at JFK Airport after being returned to the U.S. by Israeli authorities. According to federal prosecutors, on May 19, Neumeyer left a backpack containing three Molotov cocktails outside the embassy annex after spitting on a guard and fleeing. He was later tracked to his hotel and arrested.

The U.S. Justice Department said Neumeyer posted on social media: “Join me as I burn down the embassy in Tel Aviv. Death to America, death to Americans, and f–k the west.” He also reportedly made threats to assassinate former President Trump.

“This defendant is charged with planning a devastating attack… The Department will not tolerate such violence,” said Attorney General Pam Bondi.

U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella added, “Neumeyer… sought to cause chaos and destruction.”

The incident occurred days before two Israeli embassy staffers were killed in Washington. Neumeyer faces up to 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
