It was revealed that Hart was an alias used by Samantha Cookes, a woman with a history of deception and multiple false identities.
A mother from Tullamore, Ireland, discovered the dark truth about her children’s nanny after she vanished from their home.
Layla had hired Lucy Hart in 2015, believing her to be a trustworthy “Mary Poppins-style” au pair. However, it was revealed that Hart was an alias used by Samantha Cookes, a woman with a history of deception and multiple false identities.
Cookes had claimed to be an award-winning writer and expert in autism but was later exposed for fraud and jailed for stealing government welfare payments.
The scam was uncovered when Layla found a chilling note Cookes left behind after disappearing, which read, “I stand shoulder to shoulder with the coroner that I did not murder my daughter.”
Layla, who hadn’t conducted background checks on the nanny, now fears for her children’s safety.
Cookes had manipulated her way into trust before vanishing with no trace, leaving a family shaken by the revelation.
