Chidinma Ojukwu’s trial resumes in Ataga murder case

The trial of Chidinma Ojukwu resumed at the Lagos High Court as she testified, denied taking Michael Ataga’s devices, and told the court, “I regret that he died,” while new evidence was admitted despite objections.

The trial of Chidinma Ojukwu, accused of murdering Super TV CEO Michael Usifo Ataga, resumed at the Lagos State High Court where she testified under cross-examination, denied taking Ataga’s gadgets, and said, “I regret that he died.”

Standing trial alongside her sister, Chioma Egbuchu, and Adedapo Quadri, she faced questions about phones and a MacBook found in her possession, while prosecutors presented receipts showing she sold her MacBook for ₦495,000 documents she denied previously seeing. Justice Adesanya admitted the receipts as evidence despite the defence’s objections, and Ojukwu explained that the MacBook was a birthday gift and its receipt came from the giver.

She also told the court she was a 300-level Mass Communication student with no IT expertise. With the case now in its fifth year and both sides planning additional witnesses, the trial was adjourned to February 9, 10, 17, and 23, 2026.
