Over 100 worshippers were abducted in a brazen attack on multiple churches in the Kurmin Wali area of Kajuru Local Government, Kaduna State, on Sunday, according to sources. The assailants reportedly stormed the churches during ongoing services, forcibly taking congregants, while releasing around ten individuals deemed vulnerable. Authorities and security agencies have been alerted and are investigating the incident.
The attack is part of a broader pattern of violence in Kaduna, which has seen repeated deadly raids by bandits. Earlier this month, on January 3, bandits killed four members of a family in a night-time assault in Kachia town, Southern Kaduna. Multiple sources told SaharaReporters that the January 3 attack occurred near the newly established Federal University of Applied Science, the headquarters of Kachia Local Government Area.
A family member confirmed the Kachia victims to SaharaReporters, identifying them as Mr. Bitrus Bahago, his wife, Mrs. Justina Bitrus Bahago, their son, Ibrahim Bitrus Bahago, and another relative, Adam Waziri. The spate of attacks underscores ongoing security challenges in the region, with residents calling for urgent government action to curb banditry and protect vulnerable communities.
