Candlelight vigil honors teens who drowned near Buncrana

A candlelight vigil was held on Sunday, 11 May, in County Donegal to honour two teenagers who died after getting into difficulty in the water over the weekend.

The victims were named locally as Emmanuel Familola (16) and Matt Sibanda (18), according to BBC News.

Hundreds attended the service at St Mary’s Oratory in Buncrana, including local TD and former Marine Minister Charlie McConalogue. “We’ve had our share of tragedies over the years in Inishowen and Buncrana and unfortunately it has visited two families here again,” he said.

Meanwhile, RTÉ News reported that a man’s body was recovered from the sea off Co Wexford on Saturday. The body was found near Raven Point, Curracloe. Gardaí are working to identify the deceased.
