Former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson praised Nigeria as a strong ally, acknowledging the beneficial bilateral ties between the two countries. Speaking at the Imo Economic Summit, Johnson highlighted mutual exports including UK pharmaceuticals and whiskey, exchanged for Nigerian crude oil, gas, and human resources.
Johnson expressed pride in UK exports like “pharmaceuticals, bankers, services of all kinds and huge quantities of whiskey.” He also stated gratitude for Nigeria’s contributions of “oil, gas, Nollywood movies, brilliant doctors, nurses, tech geniuses,” during the two-day summit in Owerri, Imo State.
