Police and Tiv Youth Organization operatives arrested a female trafficker and rescued 11 children in a joint Benue-Edo operation.
A joint operation by the Benue State Police Command and the Tiv Youth Organization (TYO), Edo State chapter, has led to the arrest of a suspected female trafficker, Mhirve Terlumun, and the rescue of 11 children allegedly sold in Benin City.
Police said Terlumun, from Mbajir, Shitile in Katsina-Ala LGA, lured children aged five to 16 with “transport money” before trafficking them. The victims were rescued on August 23 following a TYO-led search and have since been returned to Katsina-Ala.
Katsina-Ala LGA Chairman, Dr. Justine Shaku, condemned the crime as “barbaric, inhumane, and totally unacceptable,” pledging collaboration with security agencies to ensure justice.
Security analyst Zagazaola Makama confirmed that the State CID has launched a full-scale investigation. Authorities assured that Terlumun and her accomplices will be prosecuted, while the children undergo rehabilitation.
