A new video circulating online has revealed bandits boasting that the Nigerian government negotiated with them before the release of the abducted Government Girls Secondary School, Maga, Kebbi State students.
The footage, shared via @AM_Saleeem on X, shows armed men questioning the girls about military aircraft spotted during their captivity, mocking authorities and insisting, “Your government cannot rescue you with might. Your government has failed.” In the clip, the bandits claim the girls were not harmed or deprived and affirm that they were freed “based on peace deals.”
The video emerged shortly after Governor Nasir Idris and Minister of State for Defence Bello Matawalle announced the students’ release, with officials preparing to reunite them with their parents.
