Bandits abduct Tinubu/Shettima campaign leader in Zamfara

Bandits have abducted Ambassador Bashir Isa Gusau, a youth leader of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation in Zamfara State, during a late-night raid on his residence in Gusau.

Bandits have abducted Ambassador Bashir Isa Gusau, the North-West Youth Leader of the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation, Zamfara State chapter, in a fresh attack in Gusau, the state capital. SaharaReporters gathered that the abduction occurred when no fewer than 30 heavily armed men invaded Gusau’s residence and forcefully whisked him away in the presence of his wife.

A security platform, Bakatsine, confirmed the incident on Thursday, noting that security agencies had been alerted immediately after the abduction. According to reports, the gunmen arrived in large numbers, overpowering any form of resistance before taking the victim to an unknown destination.

Zamfara State has for years been plagued by banditry, mass kidnappings and violent attacks on communities, despite repeated assurances by successive governments and security agencies. Several local government areas in the state and its environs have witnessed repeated incursions by armed groups, with politicians, traditional rulers and ordinary citizens increasingly becoming targets for kidnapping-for-ransom.
