The Fusengbuwa ruling house of Ijebu-Ode, next in line to produce the new Awujale of Ijebuland, has directed Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde, known as KWAM 1, to complete the house’s royal lineage data form before joining the succession process.
Chairman Abdulateef Owoyemi said only verified descendants would be considered, noting that Ayinde’s letter expressing interest in the throne went viral on Friday. He insisted that all candidates must trace their genealogy seven generations to prevent “strangers” from claiming the stool.
Owoyemi disclosed that although applications closed on December 5, KWAM 1 received a five-day extension ending December 10. He explained that the family would scrutinize all submitted documents before forwarding qualified names to the kingmakers, who have seven days to select a candidate. According to him, government screening and ratification would follow, making it likely for a new Awujale to emerge by mid-January 2026.
