Diddy considers lawsuit against Netflix as release date is revised

Sean “Diddy” Combs is considering legal action against Netflix and rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson over the docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning. A spokesperson said Combs’ team is “still pondering their legal options over the Netflix docuseries and the stolen footage.” Lawyers had earlier issued a cease-and-desist letter calling the series a “shameful hit piece” and warning Netflix of possible litigation.

Currently incarcerated at FCI Fort Dix, Combs was sentenced to 30 months in October after being convicted on two counts related to transportation to engage in prostitution. He faces multiple civil lawsuits nationwide and a separate sexual battery probe in Los Angeles. The Federal Bureau of Prisons has now listed his projected release date as May 25, 2028, pending the outcome of a fast-tracked appeal.

Netflix has denied wrongdoing, saying, “The footage of Combs leading up to his indictment and arrest were legally obtained. This is not a hit piece or an act of retribution.” A documentarian linked to the project said the disputed footage was released by a third party. Meanwhile, Combs’ appeal argues for his immediate release or resentencing, criticizing the trial judge’s conduct.
