“National Disgrace”: Atiku blasts Tinubu govt for negotiating with kidnappers

Atiku Abubakar has accused the Tinubu administration of turning the release of Kebbi schoolgirls into propaganda, condemning claims that security agencies contacted the kidnappers instead of arresting them.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has sharply criticised the Tinubu administration for celebrating what it called a “triumph” in securing the release of kidnapped Kebbi schoolgirls, accusing the government of masking incompetence with propaganda.

Reacting to Bayo Onanuga’s claim that the DSS and military tracked and contacted the kidnappers in real time, Atiku questioned why the criminals were neither arrested nor neutralised, asking, “Why were these criminals not arrested, neutralised, or dismantled on the spot?” He warned that the government’s narrative suggests terrorists have become “an alternative government,” negotiating and walking away freely while the presidency praises their “compliance.”

Atiku added that if security agencies truly had eyes on the kidnappers, their escape was “a national disgrace,” and if not, then Onanuga was “manufacturing lies” to cover up leadership failure.
