A senior army officer, Lt Colonel Josiah, was kidnapped from his lodge in Bomadi, Delta State, sparking fears and increased military patrols.
Panic has gripped Bomadi, Delta State, following the abduction of a senior army officer identified as Lt Colonel Josiah. The officer was kidnapped from his lodge in Bomadi, headquarters of the local government area, after attending a wedding ceremony in nearby Kpakiama community over the weekend.
According to eyewitness accounts, the armed kidnappers stormed the lodge between 2 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., ransacking rooms and seizing the phones of lodgers before abducting the officer. “The kidnappers came to the hotel around 2 am to 2.30 am last night. They searched every room, took the phones of lodgers and forced the military officer to the outside. They even shot a gun before zooming out of the hotel premises with the military officer in their vehicle. There was also blood on the ground after they had left the premises,” a source said.
Security sources confirmed that the vehicle used in the abduction was later found abandoned in Tuomo community and has been recovered by the Joint Task Force (JTF).
The incident has heightened tension in Bomadi and surrounding areas, with heavy military patrols ongoing. Residents fear possible “transferred aggression” and strict measures in response to the abduction.
