The All Progressives Congress in Rivers State confirmed the formal defection of 17 State House of Assembly members from the Peoples Democratic Party. APC Chairman Chief Tony Okocha witnessed Speaker Martin Amaewhule announce the change.
Okocha noted lawmakers met constitutional requirements and registered with the APC. He clarified a 2023 defection report was a misinterpretation and questioned the PDP’s viability amid its ongoing crisis.
