A car crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Monday left former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua hospitalized and killed two close team members. The Lexus SUV suffered a burst tire, causing the driver to lose control and hit a parked truck in Makun, Ogun State. Strength coach Sina Ghami and trainer Latif Ayodele were pronounced dead at the scene, while a fourth occupant was also hospitalized.
Tributes poured in from boxing figures. Oleksandr Usyk said, “This is an unbelievable loss… Stay strong, champion.” Jake Paul added, “Life is much more important than boxing.” Tyson Fury said, “This is so sad. May God give them a good bed in heaven.” Wladimir Klitschko noted, “I’m deeply saddened… I’ve always regarded him as a true class act.”
